It was reaaly good and helped me. Shalini, 2020.

The only thing I wish it would include is some pointers on how to find out what my strongest skills are and how to include them in my selection criteria. I know that's not the purpose of this book but it would be helpful. Bassam, 2020.

This was very helpful in that I saw how to write convincing sentences that sound professional and got out of a rut of using the same phrases all the time. Lauren, 2020

As a first time applicant I had no idea what I was supposed to do when "addressing selection criteria". I asked around and the only advice I got was to write a brief paragraph about myself under each criteria, kind of like a long cover letter. I have to admit that I was very nervous about buying your book, I didn't know what I would get or what the advice would be or if I could even trust it. But it all made total sense when I started reading through it and the examples were a god send. Really! It made me more confident writing about myself and I knew for sure that I was putting in an application with the content and format that was required. I actually had an interview last week for the one and only government job I've applied for, not a bad strike rate. I'm not sure how long it takes from here to find out, but one of my referees was contacted yesterday so it's looking good! Isabella, 2018

Your book is very helpful especially for people who are not familiar with government job application procedures. Thank you very much. Mohammad, 2018

I originally gave this book a one star review because there was too much information to sift through. I think it would be better if you split the book into multiple books so people can buy the book they want based on their occupation. It wasn't until after I sent in my selection criteria that I found the index that makes it easier to find what you need. This should be clearer and easier to find. Malcolm, 2018

Thank you for the opportunity to submit a review for your book Selection Criteria Exposed. I found the book incredibly helpful when writing my recent job application. I was able to use different paragraphs from different sections that I reworded and added my own material to. The final product, my job application, was something I am very proud of, and I anticipate I will be granted an interview. I would like to suggest updating your material to include shorter responses to selection criteria. I am interested in applying for a job that requires the selection criteria to be addressed as part of a two page cover letter. Shorter responses would help with this. Rami, 2018

I embarrassingly submitted 5 applications, thinking I was doing the right thing. I couldn't work out why I wasn't getting an interview because I am well qualified and meet all of the selection criteria. The moment I opened your book it was like a ton of bricks hit me. Luckily, one of those 5 jobs I applied for has been readvertised, so I'm going to swallow my pride, hope the selection panel don't remember my first application, and reapply, this time the right way! Your ebook is definitely helpful. Despite being a high performing EL2 I was consistently unsuccessful in getting selected for an interview. I tailored my application to each job, feedback included 'there were so many applicants who were more suitable', which didn't help improve my application.

I knew whatever I was doing was wrong. 24 months ago I could get an interview, something had changed and now I wasn't getting any interviews. I was struggling to understand why I wasn't getting interviews, I had spelt out the STAR model in my response, I had adhered to the APSC guidelines and due to the Government's Recruitment Freeze, the competition was high.

This lead me to your website as I was searching for professional development to help me with my job applications. I read your webpages and compared it to a couple of other Australian sites offering the same services. I also have all 5 editions of Dr Ann Villiers' books. I downloaded your ebook and instantly began to compose my response to an EL2 <position deleted for privacy reasons> job at the <department removed for privacy reasons>.

The information in your ebook is simple, it's laid out in a sequential format from introduction, describing the situation, gives relevant and detailed examples on how an applicant could demonstrate an application of skills as well as finishing off the criterion with results. Even though many jobs are technical, your ebook provided suitable plain language examples to allow any none technical recruiter to understand the value of the applicant - me.

As I worked through your ebook and my application I found that your ebook provides an up to date style guide for applicants, and takes the guess work out of what the recruiters are looking for. And even though I have asked for feedback, the recruiters have not articulated that the style of writing has changed. Your ebook, is a relevant and very valuable tool for me. I'm able to change out your examples for mine quite easily without distorting the style and expression found within your ebook. I just love this.

I knew prior to your ebook I was doing something wrong, and your ebook clarified that it wasn't what I was writing, it was how I was writing it. I now needed to tell a story to the recruiter rather than a clinical layout of the STAR criterion. Your examples provide me an opportunity to become 'personable' to the recruiter because they are written in a manner which is less clinical than my writing and display the more approachable, personable side of me. The depth of your ebook extends not only to matching the STAR criterion but it also provides a secondary layer which I know now that recruiters are looking for the 'cultural' fit. And your ebook examples provide the perfect avenue for me to demonstrate how approachable and personable I am.

Thank you so much. I submitted my application on Thur and on the Tue, I received an interview time. I was unsuccessful at interview. I know need to work on my interview skills as this let me down and has changed in the last 24 months. Before I start applying for more jobs, I need to improve and focus on my interview skills.  Gemma, 2014

I sent in 3 applications and didn't get an interview and then I got your book. How embarrassing - I was doing it totally wrong! Really, I feel very embarrassed by the quality of the applications I was sending in and hope it isn't held against me in the future. At least I know how I should be writing selection criteria now and the examples that you've provided are pure magic. Thanks. Mandy,2014

It is a good resource. However, I have noticed of late that more positions are moving away from selection criteria and becoming more aligned with a couple of questions which require you to discuss your experience in a certain area. Danny, 2014

What could be done to make the book easier to use? It would be ideal if for the same selection criteria there were responses that would be more appropriate for different APS levels. I found that some of the examples were not sophisticated enough :) Great reference source. Kym, 2014
